What Is Beeswax & Walnut Oil Board Polish?
Our Beeswax & Walnut Oil Board Polish is a semi-solid, plant-based conditioner made by whipping pure British beeswax into cold-pressed walnut oil. Unlike liquid oils, this rich balm melts gently into the wood, combining deep nourishment with a hard-wearing, food-safe finish. Because walnut oil is a drying oil, it polymerises as it cures, leaving a resilient protective film that repels water and stains far more effectively than non-drying alternatives.
Why Blend Walnut Oil With Mineral Oil?
Deep conditioning & durable seal - walnut oil sinks into the grain to hydrate, while beeswax locks moisture in and adds a satin sheen.
Natural, petroleum-free formula - perfect for anyone who prefers a wholly renewable, plant-and-bee-based treatment.
Enhances grain & colour - the blend brings out a warm, honeyed lustre that mineral oil alone can’t match.
How to Apply the Polish
- Start with a clean, completely dry board.
- Scoop out a hazelnut-sized amount and soften it with your fingers or a lint-free cloth.
- Work the polish over every surface and edge in small circular motions.
- Leave for 20 minutes, then buff vigorously to a gentle satin finish.
- Allow the board to rest for 6–8 hours (overnight is ideal) so the walnut oil can polymerise and the beeswax can harden.
Compatible Surfaces & Kitchenware
Ideal for wooden chopping boards, butcher’s blocks, salad bowls, and utensils. It will condition bamboo, but absorption is shallower, so re-application intervals may vary. Not recommended for varnished or lacquered surfaces. Contains tree-nut oil, so those with nut allergies may prefer our mineral-oil alternatives.
